Children Are Special

In our office, we generally see children when they are around three years of age. We suggest the first appointment be what is called a happy visit. During this time, we show the child around our office, count their teeth, let them meet our staff, and give them stickers for being a good helper. This will create a favorable first impression that will help your child look forward to future visits to our office. There is no charge for this visit.

Dr. Goch and all his staff are eager to help you prevent dental problems for your child. We suggest periodic cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, and home care instructions about every six months after age three. Regular visits will allow us to diagnose and treat dental problems early. Depending on age and other factors, small x-rays and brush-on home fluoride will be suggested.

Starting about age six, children get the first of their permanent molar teeth behind their baby teeth. Molars have deep grooves on the chewing surface, which can easily get decay. A sealant can be placed on the tooth to fill the grooves. A sealant is a thin tooth colored plastic material that is bonded to the chewing surfaces of these teeth and are very effective in helping to prevent decay. We can place them on your child's back permanent teeth as they erupt, usually at their routine cleaning appointment.

Dr. Goch and his staff take pride in helping make all your child's visits to our office enjoyable. If your child should need any dental treatment, Dr. Goch is able to do what is necessary and make the experience a pleasant one. Attitudes created at an early age will remain with your child for their entire life.
